This classic tropical cocktail is traditionally made with pineapple juice, white rum (also called light rum), and cream of coconut - then blended. But what’s in this particular shaken piña colada that makes it our favorite? Fresh squeezed lime juice (and zest!), coconut water (we love a cocktail that could potentially hydrate us) and, of course, the light but delicious pineapple flavor. The refreshing fresh pineapple flavor comes from the addition of 1 can of Spindrift Pineapple. Spindrift Pineapple is made with the best-tasting real juicy, golden pineapple.
For rum, you can use any brand you have on hand. Prefer to make it a mocktail? Omit the rum from this recipe and you’ll have a no-ABV version that’s just as good.

Shaken Piña Colada Ingredients
- 3 tbsp cream of coconut, (from a 15 ounce can)
- 3 tbsp coconut sugar, (or raw cane sugar)
- 2 tbsp coconut water
- 1 lime, juiced and zested
- 4 oz light rum
- 1 (12 oz.) can Spindrift Pineapple
- Fresh mint & cherries for garnish
How to Make a Pina Colada
- In a cocktail shaker, mix cream of coconut, sugar, coconut water, lime juice, lime zest, and rum* until the cream of coconut is fully emulsified
- Between two glasses, strain and pour over ice
- Top off with Spindrift Pineapple, garnish with mint and cherries, and serve immediately
