Yuzu Mandarin is a sophisticated, elegant sparkling water that can stand up to the most flavorful global cuisines.

Citrus is our expertise, but unique fruits are our passion. We’ve had our eye on the yuzu for years, but only recently we were able to find a yuzu juice and a supplier that truly honors the incredible flavor and subtleties of the fruit. When ripe, yuzu has a complex, beautiful flavor; it's no surprise that it's the latest trend among flavor-seeking foodies. It’s a trending fruit – which is ironic because it’s a fruit that takes its time. It takes some yuzu trees up to a decade to bear fruit. 

In that way, this flavor is a metaphor for Spindrift itself – growing slowly over time, doing things the right way, even if it’s unconventional or more challenging, for an incredibly delicious and outsized result. You can taste the effort yuzu trees have put into growing this fruit, and you can see it on the fruit itself. It bears the marks of cold winters in the mountains of Japan right on its rind. Yuzu was originally cultivated elsewhere, but the fruit was truly perfected in Japan. We sourced our yuzu juice from yuzus grown in Japan which is considered the world’s premier yuzu region – the path through some of its groves is even nicknamed the “Yuzu Road.” These farmers have the strictest standards for quality and the best reputation for yuzus. With ripe yuzu fruit, you get an electric, bright, tart burst of flavor. When you taste the juice on its own, you can see why it’s become such a culinary sensation – it offers such unique and sophisticated notes. But yuzus are not sweet – so, to turn yuzu into Spindrift, this is where mandarin plays an important role.  

Unlike yuzus, mandarins thrive in hot groves in Southern California. This climate brings out their warmth and sweetness. Together, these fruits perfectly complement each other. Juicy, sweet mandarins bring the yuzu flavor to something truly special. Our Innovation Team knew this was the combination for our newest flavor. At first sip, Yuzu Mandarin is both elevated and endlessly drinkable. The taste is refreshing and subtle; we think of Spindrift® Yuzu Mandarin  sparkling water as a curated experience for discerning palates.

We’ve built Spindrift on the idea that real ingredients make all the difference. To celebrate the launch of Yuzu Mandarin, we are teaming up with our long-time culinary friends at Momofuku, pioneers of bold, ingredient-driven Asian-American cuisine since 2004. When we sipped Yuzu Mandarin, we knew it’d be the perfect pairing for one of their unique, flavorful dishes.  

In addition to serving Yuzu Mandarin in their NYC locations, Momofuku's esteemed Noodle Bar has crafted two limited-time dishes inspired by the flavor: Tempura Sea Bream at Noodle Bar East Village and Roasted Garlic Miso Noodles at Noodle Bar Uptown. 

If you're in the NYC area this summer, you can enjoy Yuzu Mandarin on menus at both Momofoku Noodle Bar locations from June 23rd - August 8th. Patrons who visit Noodle Bar will be able to try a complimentary can of Yuzu Mandarin for free or order the exclusive pairing and get an exclusive co-branded tote (while supplies last).
