Discontinuing Spindrift® Spiked

After four years, we’ve decided to discontinue our Spindrift® Spiked product line to focus on what we do best: bringing real ingredients to sparkling water and innovating new non-alcoholic categories with real squeezed fruit. It has been an incredible run, and we’re proud of all we accomplished with Spiked, but as more consumers reassess their relationship with alcohol, we’re excited to double down on our core Spindrift products.
We launched Spiked in 2021 after two years in R&D, amid a burgeoning hard seltzer market, to a community of folks who, like us, were looking for real, transparent ingredients in an infamously artificial, convoluted category. With Spindrift® Spiked, we crafted an incredible product that we – and many Drifters across the country – grew to love. Spiked was proudly made the hard way, from sourcing to manufacturing to our team bringing Spiked to new markets - state by state and region by region.
Back when we launched Spindrift® Spiked, we promised Drifters in the very first email: “If Spiked isn’t your thing, rest assured, Spindrift is first and foremost a sparkling water and we will continue to launch new, mind-blowing varieties like our new Sparkling Lemonades.” That was true then and remains true today and into the future.
There’s so much ahead and Spindrift innovations galore, with real squeezed fruit in every last drop.
Why are you discontinuing Spindrift Spiked®?
The short answer: we want to focus on what we do best. The longer answer: We grew Spindrift® Spiked state by state, putting in the work and learning the beverage-alcohol industry while balancing our long-time commitment to our core sparkling water business. Spiked was our foray into a then-burgeoning hard seltzer market, where we introduced real squeezed fruit . We quickly learned that building a beverage-alcohol business demands substantial resources and time due to the unique route to market, dedicated manufacturing requirements, and necessary regulatory compliance. Meanwhile, we saw the alcohol industry facing its own challenges – first with a declining hard seltzer demand and broader consumer trends favoring no-ABV options, mocktails, and more.
As our CEO Dave Burwick said, "Making the decision to move on from a beloved product line is never easy. We are incredibly proud of the impact that our team was able to achieve in the marketplace, and this is a difficult decision, but the right one to better serve the needs of our customers, supporting the tremendous momentum of the current business and strong consumer trends towards non-alc beverages."
What’s next for Spindrift?
We’re going to keep doing what we do best: championing real squeezed fruit in beverage. As we write this, we’ve already crafted incredible new additions to our sparkling line – like Tropical Lemonade and Yuzu Mandarin – and innovating new non-alc categories like mocktails and SODA – and we’ve got lots more happening behind-the-scenes. (Stay tuned for fall and winter flavors and 2026 innovations!)
What does this mean for consumers?
As we sunset Spindrift Spiked, you will see the product leave shelves on a rolling basis over the coming months. If you see Spiked available for sale or have product on-hand, you can still enjoy it! Keep an eye on the best-by date that’s stamped on the bottom of the cans for the best-tasting experience.
